MEET JOHN B. DAVIS

I am committed to upholding the values that foster a strong, inclusive, and thriving community—fairness, equity, representation, and opportunity for all. These principles are essential to building a vibrant future for Amherst, and I am ready to serve with these values at the forefront.

As our town becomes increasingly diverse, our leadership must reflect the people who call Amherst home. If elected, I would be honored to serve as the first African American elected official in Amherst’s history—helping ensure that everyone in our community feels seen, heard, and represented. This moment presents an opportunity for Amherst to embrace progress and welcome new voices to the decision-making table.

Through my service on the Information and Technology Advisory Committee and the Planning Board, I have gained valuable insight into the opportunities and challenges facing our town. Additionally, my grassroots efforts—canvassing and connecting with residents across Amherst—have deepened my understanding of the issues that matter most to each neighborhood. These experiences have prepared me to step into this role and make an immediate, meaningful impact.

If elected to the Town Board, I will focus on priorities that strengthen Amherst and enhance the quality of life for all residents:

• Maintaining the budget for essential public services, ensuring our police and fire departments remain well-funded to keep our town safe.
• Advocating for smart, responsible planning that includes preserving our parks, advancing the vision for Amherst Central Park, and the redevelopment of the Boulevard Mall.
• Expanding youth and senior services while enhancing the technology to make it easier for residents to enroll in services.

Professionally, I am a Senior Energy Project Manager at Wendel Energy Services, where I lead sustainability and infrastructure improvement projects for municipal clients. I also serve as President of the Buffalo Post of the Society of American Military Engineers and Secretary of the American Council of Engineering Companies of Western New York. These roles have honed my leadership skills, especially in building partnerships, advocating for smart policy, and delivering results that benefit communities.

I also have a solid fundraising plan supported by a strong professional network and deep community connections. I am prepared to dedicate myself fully to this campaign and work hard every day to earn the trust and support of Amherst residents.

I look forward to the opportunity to serve and contribute to Amherst’s future with integrity, transparency, and a commitment to every corner of our town.
